Planning a Wedding at Childress Vineyards? Here's What to Expect

If you're dreaming of a vineyard wedding in North Carolina, it's hard to overlook Childress Vineyards. Nestled among rolling vineyards in Lexington, this venue offers beautiful scenery, thoughtfully designed event spaces, and one of the most relaxed wedding experiences I've photographed.

I've had the privilege of photographing a wedding here, and it remains one of my favorites—not just because of how stunning the venue is, but because everything flowed so naturally. The spaces are designed with both couples and guests in mind, making the entire day feel effortless.

Beautiful Spaces From Start to Finish

One thing that immediately stands out about Childress Vineyards is that every part of the property feels intentionally designed for weddings.

The getting-ready suites are spacious, bright, and comfortable, giving everyone room to relax without feeling crowded. As a photographer, that makes a huge difference. Good natural light and uncluttered spaces create timeless getting-ready photos before the day even begins.

Outside, you'll find beautifully landscaped grounds, stone architecture, vineyards stretching into the distance, and elegant ceremony spaces that require very little additional décor to feel complete.

Instead of moving from one pretty location to another, the entire property feels cohesive.

The Ceremony Space Is Beautiful Without Feeling Overdone

The outdoor ceremony area overlooks the vineyards and provides a naturally beautiful backdrop.

It doesn't compete with the couple standing in front of it—it simply enhances the moment.

One of my favorite photographs from this wedding wasn't a portrait at all. It was the moment one partner saw the other walking down the aisle. A close-up in black and white where you could see tears beginning to form before a single word had been spoken.

Those are the moments I remember most from a wedding day.

The venue simply gives them a beautiful place to happen.

A Venue That Gives You Endless Portrait Options

One of my favorite things about photographing weddings at Childress Vineyards is the variety.

Within just a few minutes of walking, you can create completely different looks:

  • Vineyard views

  • Stone architecture

  • Elegant courtyards

  • Lush landscaping

  • Open skies

  • Romantic pathways

  • Beautiful reception interiors

Because everything is located on the property, you don't lose valuable time driving between portrait locations. That means you get more variety in your gallery without sacrificing time with your guests.

Give Yourself Time to Enjoy the Property

If I could give one piece of advice to couples getting married here, it would be this:

Don't rush your timeline.

Childress Vineyards is larger than many couples realize.

It's easy to underestimate how much there is to see and how many incredible portrait locations are available throughout the property.

Building in extra portrait time allows you to explore the grounds, enjoy the scenery, and create a gallery that truly reflects everything the venue has to offer—without feeling hurried from one event to the next.

A relaxed timeline almost always leads to better photographs and a more enjoyable wedding day.

Why I Love Photographing Weddings Here

Every venue has beautiful spots.

What makes Childress Vineyards different is how easy it is to simply be present.

Nothing feels forced.

The venue flows naturally, the staff keeps things moving, and there are beautiful opportunities around every corner without needing elaborate setups or complicated logistics.

The wedding featured throughout this post is still one of my favorites years later—not just because the venue was gorgeous, but because the couple genuinely enjoyed every minute of their day. We even ended the evening sitting together with wine slushies after coverage had finished, simply talking about life, travel, photography, and our shared love of cats.

Those are the kinds of weddings I love documenting.

Real people, genuine connection, and a venue that allows those moments to unfold naturally.
