How far in advance should we book? - The short answer? As soon as you've decided you'd love to work together.

For larger weddings, most couples book 9–18 months in advance, especially if they're getting married during peak wedding season. Smaller weddings and intimate celebrations are often booked 6–12 months out, while portrait sessions are typically scheduled 1–3 months in advance.

That said, don't hesitate to reach out, even if your date is just around the corner. If my calendar allows, I'm always happy to accommodate last-minute weddings, surprise proposals, portrait sessions, and celebrations. Some of my favorite events have come together in just a matter of days.

The only way to know if I'm available is to ask—and I'd love to hear what you're planning.

Do you travel? - Without hesitation. In fact, it's one of my favorite parts of this job.

Travel has shaped not only who I am as a person but also how I see the world through my camera. Whether it's a mountaintop elopement, a destination wedding, a quiet beach proposal, or a portrait session somewhere that means something to you, I genuinely love telling stories in new places.

I'm based near Charlotte, North Carolina, but my passport gets plenty of use and my suitcase is never too far away. If your story takes us somewhere incredible—or somewhere that's simply special to you—I would be honored to come along.

How long until we receive our gallery? - I know you'll be excited to relive your memories, and I'll be just as excited to share them with you.

Most portrait galleries are delivered within two weeks, while most wedding galleries are delivered within six weeks. Your contract will always include the specific delivery timeline for your session or wedding, and I'll never leave you wondering what to expect.

If I ever finish your gallery sooner (which I always hope to!), you'll be the first to know.

How many photos will we receive? - Rather than promising a specific number of images, I believe in delivering the photographs that best tell your story. Every wedding, session, and celebration is unique, so the final gallery naturally varies depending on the event, the timeline, and all of the meaningful moments in between.

One thing you can always expect is a thoughtfully curated gallery filled with the moments that matter most—without making you sort through dozens of nearly identical images.

Can we customize packages or collections? - Absolutely. Every wedding and every story is different, so I never want you to feel like you have to fit neatly into a pre-designed package.

Whether you need just a few hours of coverage, a multi-day celebration documented, or you'd like to add extra time, an engagement session, a second photographer, or something unique to your plans, I'm happy to create a collection that fits your needs.

Do you work with a second or associate photographer? - Yes! While my goal is always to personally photograph as many weddings and sessions as I can, Amanda Moss Photography is supported by a trusted team of talented professionals who have been part of the business for years.

Every associate photographer is carefully selected not only for their talent but also for their ability to create the same relaxed, thoughtful experience my clients have come to expect. They understand the style, values, and level of care that Amanda Moss Photography is known for, so you can feel confident you're in excellent hands.

For weddings, I also work with experienced second photographers whenever they're requested or when the size or timeline of an event would truly benefit from an extra set of eyes. For many weddings, however, I'm able to comfortably and confidently photograph the day on my own.

No matter who's behind the camera, my commitment is the same: to create beautiful, authentic photographs and provide an experience that feels personal, seamless, and genuinely enjoyable.

Do you require a retainer? - Yes. To officially reserve your date, I'll ask you to sign your contract and submit a non-refundable retainer. From that moment on, your date is exclusively yours, and I'll begin planning for your celebration with the care and attention it deserves.

Every proposal clearly outlines your payment schedule, so there are never any surprises along the way.

Do you offer payment plans? - Every wedding and portrait session is divided into two payments: a non-refundable retainer to reserve your date and a final payment due before your session or wedding.

If you need a little more flexibility beyond that, I'm always happy to have a conversation. While I can't guarantee custom payment schedules, I'll do my best to accommodate requests whenever I'm able.

What if it rains? - Believe it or not... I actually love photographing in the rain.

Some of my favorite images have been created under cloudy skies, with clear umbrellas, dramatic light, or those perfectly timed moments when the rain lets up just enough. Rain has a way of making people slow down, stay close, and embrace the moment—and that often makes for incredibly beautiful photographs.

For weddings, Mother Nature gets the final say, and after photographing many celebrations over the years, I can confidently tell you this: I've never seen a wedding ruined because of rain. We'll adapt, get creative, and make the most of whatever the day brings.

For portrait sessions, we have a little more flexibility. If the weather simply isn't cooperating, I'm always happy to reschedule at no additional charge. And if you're feeling adventurous? We might just create something unforgettable.

What it we’re awkward? - First of all... welcome to about 95% of my clients.

One of the biggest misconceptions people have is that the couples and families you see throughout my website were naturally comfortable in front of the camera. The truth is, most of them started by telling me the exact same thing:

"We're going to be awkward."

The good news? You don't have to know what you're doing—that's my job.

I'll gently guide you when you need direction, give you prompts instead of stiff poses, and create space for the genuine moments to unfold naturally. Before long, you'll stop thinking about the camera and start focusing on each other.

My goal isn't to make you look like models.

It's to help you feel comfortable enough to be yourselves.

Can we request specific photos? - Absolutely! I love hearing what's important to you.

For portrait sessions, I'm always happy to collaborate on a vision and welcome any inspiration you'd like to share. Before we finish, I'll also check in to make sure we've captured everything you were hoping for.

For weddings, I ask my couples to trust me to document the day as it naturally unfolds rather than working from a detailed shot list. The one exception is group portraits—together, we'll create a list of your family, chosen family, and other important people so no one is missed.

What happens if you’re sick or have an emergency? - The chances of this happening are incredibly small, but if they ever did, I would first arrange for one of my trusted associate photographers to step in.
