Now that you're officially booked, you can relax—I've got the rest.

Over the next few days, we'll finalize the details of your session, including your location, timing, and any ideas you'd like to incorporate. If you already have a vision, I'd love to hear it. And if you don't, that's perfectly okay too.

You won't have to wonder what comes next. I'll guide you through each step and reach out whenever I need something from you.

What to Wear

What you wear plays a big role in the overall feel of your photographs, but it doesn't have to be stressful.

Choose clothing that makes you feel comfortable and confident. Neutral colors, timeless styles, and outfits that allow you to move naturally tend to photograph beautifully, but the most important thing is that your clothing feels like you.

If you're unsure about outfit choices, I'm always happy to help and I definitely suggest checking out my portolio and The Journal to see what other people are wearing.

Planning Your Session

This is where the fun begins. Start Brainstorming. Look for ideas. Bounce them off of me.

Together, we'll choose a location that fits your vision, talk through outfits, discuss the overall feel you're hoping for, and make sure every detail is planned before your session arrives.

Whether you have a Pinterest board with fifty ideas or absolutely no clue where to start, we'll create something that feels authentic to you.

 
 
 
 

Weather & Backup Plans

If we're photographing outdoors, we'll keep an eye on the forecast as your session approaches.

Sometimes a little cloud cover creates beautiful light, and sometimes Mother Nature has other plans. If severe weather becomes an issue, we'll simply work together to reschedule or adjust locations if needed. I’ve created amazing images in the rain, so if you’re game for a fun time, don’t hesitate to let me know!

The goal is never to force a session in bad conditions—it's to create photographs you'll love.

What to Expect During Your Session

This is probably the question I hear most often:

"What if I'm awkward?"

Almost everyone feels that way at first.

My job isn't to expect you to know what you're doing—it's to guide you through it. I'll demonstrate poses, give simple prompts, keep you moving, and encourage genuine interaction instead of stiff smiles.

We'll walk, laugh, talk, and probably move around more than you expect. Some poses take a little effort, and we may change outfits quickly or chase the best light, but I promise I'll make the experience as relaxed and enjoyable as possible.

By the end of the session, most people forget the camera is even there.

 
 

Bringing Family, Friends & Pets

I encourage inclusion in your sessions. If someone important is joining your session—whether it's your partner, your children, your dog, or even a close friend who's there to cheer you on—let me know ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.

If you're bringing little ones or pets, we'll build a flexible session that allows plenty of room for breaks, play, and genuine moments. Some of the best photographs happen when everyone is simply allowed to be themselves.

After Your Session

Once your session is over, the excitement isn't.

I'll carefully sort through your images and professionally edit each photograph with the same care and attention that went into creating them.

When your gallery is ready, I'll send you everything you need to access it. I always try to send a couple sneak peeks as well, but sometimes they can slip through the cracks. If a sneak peek is important to you, don’t hesitate to ask!
